WELCOME TO THE SCHOOL COUNSELING DEPARTMENT

Our mission at Gilmer ISD is to empower every student to achieve academic success, social-emotional growth, and college and career readiness. GISD Professional School Counselors establish collaborative relationships with students, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to promote student autonomy by helping them discover their full potential.                                                                                                                                                                    

The Gilmer ISD Counseling Department is an integral part of every student’s academic foundation. Utilizing the unique skills of the GISD Professional School Counselors, we serve all students through individual planning, guidance curriculum, responsive services, and school system support. This program is preventative, proactive, and data driven.

Students, teachers, and parents are encouraged to contact the school counselor with any questions or concerns they may have. Confidentiality is an important part of the counseling process. Students are encouraged to share their conversations with the counselor with their families.
